The agreement

By using Plate, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree with something, the right move is not to use the app. If you only mildly disagree, email us — we sometimes change our minds.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 to use Plate. By signing up, you confirm you are.

Your account

Keep your sign-in method (email code, Apple Sign In, or Google Sign In) secure. You're responsible for activity on your account. If you spot something suspicious — a login you don't recognise, a meal you didn't log — email us and we'll lock it down.

Not medical advice

Plate is a nutrition and fitness tracking app. It is not a medical device, and Coach Kai is not your doctor, dietitian, or therapist. Calorie and macro targets are calculated from standard formulas (Mifflin-St Jeor for BMR) and are estimates, not prescriptions.

If you have a medical condition — diabetes, an eating disorder, a heart condition, kidney disease, or anything in pregnancy — talk to a qualified clinician before relying on Plate for nutrition decisions.

Subscriptions

Plate Free is free, forever, with daily limits on AI features. Plate Pro is $9.99/month or $69.99/year, billed via Apple, Google, or our payment provider, depending on the platform. New Pro subscribers get a 14-day free trial; we don't charge until day 15.

Subscriptions auto-renew until you cancel. You can cancel any time from your platform's subscription settings or in the app under You → Subscription.

Refunds

If Plate isn't working for you in the first 30 days of a paid plan, email hello@plate.best and we'll refund you. No questions.

After 30 days, we follow Apple's and Google's standard refund policies, which we don't control.

Your content

Everything you log — meals, photos, workouts, weight, coach chats — belongs to you. We don't own any of it. You give us a limited license to display it back to you and to run it through our systems so the app works as designed. That license ends when you delete your account.

Acceptable use

Don't:

• Scrape our app or APIs.
• Reverse-engineer Coach Kai or our food-recognition pipeline.
• Use Plate to harass, stalk, or harm anyone.
• Submit content that infringes someone else's rights.
• Try to break our infrastructure (we'll notice).

Liability

Plate is provided "as is." We work hard to make it accurate and reliable, but we can't guarantee it. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total liability to you is capped at what you've paid us in the last 12 months.

Termination

You can delete your account whenever you want — it's a one-tap action in the app under You → Delete account. We can terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice unless the violation is severe (fraud, abuse, etc.).

Changes to these terms

We'll notify you in-app or by email at least 14 days before any material change. Continuing to use Plate after that constitutes acceptance. If you disagree, you can delete your account and request a prorated refund of any paid subscription.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes that can't be resolved by email — try email first, please — go to binding arbitration in Wilmington, Delaware.
